Spreading Book Joy

Spreading Book Joy

Volunteerism continued for some during Spring Recess. Oliver Antov '26 and current Taft student Veronica Antov '24 were student volunteers at nErDcampCT held on March 2 at Sedgwick Middle School in West Hartford. Coincidentally, just prior to nErDcampCT, Frankie McAloon '27 and his father, a Taft teacher, reached out to Mrs. DiLorenzo to see if she had any books to donate to St. Matthew's School in rural Kenya. Since part of nErDcampCT included a Book Swap, the McAloons were in luck. A bundle of elementary level books in great condition will make their way to Kenyan children thanks to the efforts of nErDcampCT and volunteers in Connecticut.

Over 125 people attended nErDcampCT, including forty authors who were available during the Author Meet & Greet portion of the day. Plenty of literary discussions happened throughout the morning among teachers, librarians, administrators, and authors. nErDcampCT is a truly unique and free event where everything focuses around literacy.
